American Airlines and Alaska Airlines matched a move by Delta Air Lines to raise by $5 one-way fares

for 3-day, 7-day, 14-day and 21-day advance purchase tickets, according to fare watcher FareCompare. Regarding the likelihood of a full competitive match this weekend, J.P. Morgan Securities analysts "ascribe a high probability of success to this effort, if so marking the second broad increase of 2007 out of three attempts."
