Alaska Airlines in June had the best on-time performance among major U.S. carriers

at 74.6 percent, according to government statistics. It was followed by US Airways and Southwest Airlines, each at 76.3 percent. At 58.8 percent, American Airlines ranked last among the 11 majors for the fifth consecutive month. In more recent statistics from FlightStats covering July 2008, AA placed tenth among the major U.S. carriers with an on-time ratio just above 67 percent. Frontier Airlines ranked first (86.3 percent) and JetBlue Airways finished last (65 percent).
