Airberlin announced that Wolfgang Prock-Schauer is the new CEO and that senior vice president Otto Gergye assumed responsibility for international sales.
Prock-Schauer also will continue serving as chief strategy and planning officer for Germany's second-largest airline. Before joining Airberlin, he served for three years as CEO of British Midland International. Previously serving as Airberlin CEO, Hartmut Mehdorn remains on the company's board. Meanwhile, according to a statement attributed to Gergye, the new sales structure positions Airberlin to provide "an optimum service to sectors that are becoming increasingly important, such as the international market and corporate clients," with the latter led by vice president of corporate sales Stefan Magiera.
