AirTran Airways and United Airlines each enacted modest domestic fare increases
, according to JPMorgan Securities analyst Jamie Baker. AirTran's price hike ranged from $2 to $5 each way, and "competitive matching was immediate," Baker wrote in a research note. "United appears to have boosted the entirety of its domestic fare structure by $3 one-way. If successful, this will serve as the sixth legacy increase of 2007 out of eleven attempts."
