The Association of Corporate Travel Executives released an index that tracks business travel spending and compares it to other financial indices,
such as the Consumer Price Index and Gross Domestic Product. The interactive ACTE Index is based on monthly reports submitted by more than 100 companies and allows users to track by geographic region overall business travel spending, as well as spending on air transportation, car rental and hotel stays. To produce a "predictive index" of the confidence in business travel, the ACTE Index was "built deep and wide," according to the association's executive director Ron DiLeo. To reflect seasonal variances and other anomalies, the data is optimized by Cornerstone Information Systems and analyzed by Capsaicin. Sabre Travel Network sponsored the index. "This is the world’s first business travel index that measures travel industry performance against something other than business travel benchmarks," DiLeo said, adding that it "sheds insight on how corporate travel affects the economy, and is not just affected by it."
