A U.S. Court of Appeals stayed the Federal Aviation Administration's planned take-off and landing slot auctions at New York-area airports
, "pending further order of the court." The Air Transport Association of America, which had filed a motion for the stay along with Continental Airlines and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said, "This is a clear win for passengers, as the Department was stopped from proceeding with an ideological experiment that would have resulted in higher fares, less service and a confiscation of airline property."
