Travelport in the second quarter processed 4.1 percent fewer transactions that it had a year earlier, according to the company.
In the Americas, segment volume declined 5.8 percent, or 2 million segments, to 43 million. That decline, according to Travelport, reflects "the loss of approximately 2 million segments related to the Master Services Agreement with United." United in March switched to Hewlett-Packard's Shares reservations system from one furnished by Travelport. Elsewhere, Travelport segments fell 3.3 percent in Europe and 4.2 percent in Asia/Pacific. As the only growth region, the Middle East and Africa saw Travelport's processed segments increase 2.2 percent. According to the company, the overall industry experienced "continuing, but slower growth in global travel trends with second-quarter air segment volumes up 1 percent year over year."
