Distribution
Travelport during the fourth quarter of 2013 processed 80 million GDS segments globally, up 4 percent year over year.
That included 38 million in the Americas, 20 million in Europe and 13 million in Asia/Pacific, up about 1 million in each of the three regions. The 9 million processed segments in the Middle East and Africa was unchanged from the prior year. The company reported that its segment growth outperformed the industry in Canada, Russia and Central and South America. Parent Travelport Limited posted fourth-quarter revenue of $480 million, up 5 percent year over year. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization improved 4 percent to $109 million. Owing partly to interest expense, however, the company posted a net loss of $49 million, much narrower than the $164 million net loss from a year earlier. Derived from dividing transaction processing revenue by the number of reported segments, Travelport's revenue per segment for full-year 2013 increased 4 percent to $5.49. President and CEO Gordon Wilson in a statement indicated that 2013 was "a successful growth year."
