Distribution
Travelport during the June quarter processed 2.7 percent more air segments globally than in the year-earlier period,
driven by a 7.2 percent increase in Europe. The company reported that its total increase was in line with the industry's overall 3 percent growth in global distribution system segment volume, which included a 1 percent decline in the United States and a 4 percent improvement in Europe. Travelport's second-quarter adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was up 3 percent to $139 million. Net revenue rose 6 percent and operating income jumped 11 percent to $56 million. RevPas, which Travelport defines as transaction processing revenue divided by the number of reported segments, increased 5 percent to $5.51, representing the ninth consecutive quarter of such growth. The company attributed the positive trend to "continued introduction of new products and services, further growth in hotel and advertising sales and growth in eNett payments processing."
