Cisco Systems, Interface Inc. and Virgin Group committed resources to reducing travel-related emissions
as they announced participation in the Clinton Global Initiative. Cisco said it would invest $20 million in collaborative technologies to "reduce the need for physical travel" and attempt to cut its travel budget by $100 million. Virgin pledged the next decade's profits from its air and rail businesses to alternative fuel research, and carpet manufacturer Interface said it would attempt to become carbon neutral by 2020--including efforts to offset business-travel pollution.
