American Express reported a 4 percent year-over-year drop in second-quarter global corporate travel sales.
That followed a 2 percent decline in the March 2012 quarter, which had been the first such quarterly reduction since late 2009. In its Global Commercial Services unit, Amex reported an 8 percent year-over-year increase in billed business to $42 billion, representing slower growth than the double-digit percentage increases recorded during the previous eight quarters. Amex reported overall net income of $1.34 billion, up 1 percent from a year earlier, as revenues increased 5 percent to $7.97 billion.
