Travelport reported a "turnaround" in corporate travel and "signs of recovery" for its global distribution system in the fourth quarter.
In a financial filing on Tuesday, the company wrote that its large corporate agency accounts "returned to growth year-on-year in the fourth quarter, with monthly volumes in November and December 2009 increasing by 1 percent and 4 percent, respectively." Overall, "GDS-processed air segments for November and December 2009 increased by 11 percent and 14 percent, respectively, compared to the same months in 2008," the company added. "Travelport’s total segments (including GDS processed air segments, other air segments and land and sea segments) increased 10 percent in December 2009, compared to the same month in 2008, and 5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009 on a year-on-year basis."
