The European market could see "something along the lines" of the optional, incentive-cutting program Sabre Travel Network recently announced for U.S. travel agencies
, according to Sabre Holdings chairman and CEO Sam Gilliland. "Asia is a different situation altogether," he said. "We don't see the pressure on booking fees that we see in other markets, therefore less pressure on the agency incentives and the agency model in general." Through the new Efficient Access Solution, Sabre is asking U.S. global distribution system users to surrender a portion of their incentive payments in exchange for access to full content from participating airlines and "protections" against any airline-imposed fees on GDS bookings.
