Following implementation of electronic ticketing in July 2008, AirTran Airways observed "a consistent pick up" in corporate travel sales
, according to senior vice president of marketing and planning Kevin Healy. Augmenting the carrier's ticketless approach, e-ticketing "improved compliance with government contracts and our business with businesses," Healy said. Director of sales Paul Clements said the U.S. government requires "ticket numbers for reconciliation," and during fiscal 2009 will use AirTran on 100 city pairs, totaling $45 million in government travel spending. Clements added that AirTran currently provides e-ticketing capability via the Sabre global distribution system, but expects to offer it through other GDSs "some time later this year."
