Expedia Corporate Travel agreed to buy Toronto-area Synergi Global Travel Management
in a deal that may provide an opportunity to bring its Canadian ticket fulfillment functions in-house. ECT currently uses Hogg Robinson Group for such functions. Planning to change its name to Egencia--the brand name of a French online agency that Expedia bought in 2004--ECT also said it would supplement its preferred hotel rate program with negotiated airline and car rental rates, and offer interactive airplane seat charts, traveler reviews and city guides.
