Corporate travel hotel volumes in 2009 will be down by an average of 3 percent
versus 2008, according to a Morgan Stanley November poll of 400 travel managers. Eighty-one percent of respondents expected their organizations' 2009 room night volume to be flat or down, with nearly a third expecting at least a 7 percent decline. The average expected change for 2009 negotiated rates was a 0.3 percent increase. Meanwhile, 46 percent of respondents said their organizations are "looking to trade down in hotel price-point to save costs," according to survey results.
