New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center opened its new
exhibition hall, Javits Center North, for its first event in August when it
hosted Business Journals Inc.'s Fashion Avenue Market Expo, a three-day fashion
event that was part of NYC Fashion Market Week.
The completion of Javits Center North, which features 80,000
square feet of exhibition space, concludes the expansion phase of a
facility-wide renovation project that began last summer. Currently in progress,
the renovation phase will be completed by the end of 2013 and will include
extensive upgrades encompassing the facility's safety, security, lighting and
plumbing systems, curtain wall and skylights and as well as its roof, which
will be replaced with New York City's largest green roof as part of a larger
plan to LEED-certify the building.
"The hall provides additional space for our existing
customers while ensuring a smooth transition during the renovation of our main
building," Javits Center president and CEO Gerald McQueen said.
Trump's Flagship New
York Hotel Completes $30M Renovation
The Trump International Hotel & Tower New York, the
flagship property of Donald Trump's growing hotel empire, has completed a $30
million renovation encompassing its 176 guest rooms and suites, the Trump Hotel
Collection announced last month.
"As the crown jewel of the Trump Hotel Collection,
Trump International Hotel & Tower New York is committed to delivering the
best hotel experience available anywhere in the world, and maintaining our
luxurious room product is a key part of that," Donald Trump said in a
statement last fall, upon announcing the renovation. "The voluptuous
fabrics and opulent finishes of the redesign will put us in step with the
feel of the other Trump Hotel Collection properties."
Overseen by Trump's daughter Ivanka, the guest room
renovation was completed in two stages: Half of the rooms were completed in the
spring and the balance over the summer. All rooms were adorned with new
furnishings, fabrics and finishes, and all now feature handcrafted Schonbek
crystal chandeliers as well as 55-inch flat-screen televisions.
The Trump Hotel Collection now includes five properties—two
in New York and one each in Chicago, Las Vegas and Hawaii—with more in
development in Scotland, Toronto, Dubai, Panama, Cap Cana and New Orleans.
