Global mega travel management company HRG on Friday launched
a feature within its HRG Online self-booking tool that allows U.K. travel
buyers to monitor and benchmark their spending on rail travel.
As an enhancement to HRG's rail booking functionality, the
new feature stores data from rail bookings to create a savings report that
highlights out-of-policy bookings. Buyers can benchmark fares within the tool
according to their company policy, according to Paul Saggar, HRG's director of
technology product development.
"Users will see the savings benefits as they are making
their bookings, thanks to the dynamic rail display," Saggar said in a
statement. "The display will also inform the traveler of any overspend,
recording it as a missed savings opportunity. Such visual prompts often help to
shape positive purchasing behavior in the future."
The feature currently is available only within the United
Kingdom, according to HRG.
