Forty-two percent of 265 surveyed companies doing business in China said travel and entertainment budgets increased during the last 12 months, and 42 percent expect a further increase in the next 12 months
, according to American Express Business Travel. Based on responses from Chinese and foreign companies operating in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, the survey also found that 76 percent "have procedures in place" to control travel spending; 70 percent have "a formal T&E policy"; 44 percent "integrate environmental issues" into travel policies; 64 percent use negotiated airfares; and 63 percent use online travel tools. "Almost half" of those surveyed use travel agencies, up 6 percent from a year ago, with 22 percent relying on a single, consolidated agency.
