WestJet Shareholders Approve Private Equity Sale

WestJet shareholders and option holders voted 92.5 percent to 7.5 percent to approve Onex Corp.'s acquisition of the carrier, which will take the carrier private. Canada's Minster of Transport approved the $5 billion deal last month, but the deal still has several regulatory hurdles to clear. WestJet has projected the deal will close by early next year.
