Alaska Airlines will begin service out of
Washington's Paine Field in fall 2018, becoming the first carrier to establish
passenger service out of the small airport in Snohomish County, which is north
of Seattle and home to the Boeing Everett factory. Alaska has not announced a
schedule but, pending government approvals, it plans as many as nine "daily,
nonstop flights to some of our most popular destinations," VP of capacity
planning John Kirby said. The flights will allow Alaska to add service outside the
near-capacity Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and to cut travel time for
travelers who live north of Seattle, carrier executives said. Paine Field is
used for private aviation and for Boeing to test and deliver aircraft.
