Travel Price Index for May 2007 increased 3.5 percent year-over-year
The Travel Industry Association of America said the . Hotel and motel prices were up 4.5 percent and the cost for "food away from home" rose by 3.3 percent. Airline fares, however, dropped one percentage point from May 2006. TIA's TPI "measures the seasonally unadjusted inflation rate of the cost of travel away from home in the United States." By comparison, the Consumer Price Index in May increased 2.7 percent.
