The Global Business Travel Association revised its forecast for 2015 US business travel spending today,
pegging growth at 4.9 percent. This marks an increase from the forecast it released in the second quarter, 3.1 percent, but a decrease from the forecast it put out in the first quarter, 6.2 percent. According to the report, uneven economic indicators will hinder what could have been sharper growth in 2015. The 2016 outlook, however, remains bullish. GBTA anticipates a 5.4 percent increase over 2015 spending, topping out at $318.9 billion. The report notes that US business travel spending has risen 38 percent from 2009, when it hit its lowest point in the recession.
