larger than the €249 million operating loss reported for the
year-earlier period but, at constant currency, €38 million smaller. The net loss of €630 million included a €311 million special charge related to
Iberia's restructuring. Group passenger revenue increased 1.7 percent to €3.35 billion, and passenger yield grew 2.1 percent. IAG this week also posted April traffic statistics showing a 1.8 percent increase in group premium traffic but a 6.9 percent decline in non-premium traffic. "Traffic and load factor were affected by Easter and a group policy to improve unit revenues through yield, rather than load," according to the company. By carrier, BA's overall traffic declined 0.4 percent while Iberia's plummeted more than 19 percent.
