Hertz Global Holdings revenue grew 2 percent year over year to $2.1 billion in the first quarter, as both pricing and volume grew in the U.S. Revenue in the U.S. rose 7 percent to $1.5 billion, as transaction days rose 4 percent and pricing increased 2 percent. Executives noted that growth in the company's rentals to Uber and Lyft drivers drove the volume increase. That, along with the "highest-profit leisure categories," drove the pricing increase. Outside the U.S., revenue declined 7 percent to $433 million, though revenue was flat on a constant currency basis. Growth in both business and leisure demand in the Asia/Pacific region helped push volume up 2 percent year over year as pricing declined 2 percent. Hertz reported a net loss of $149 million for the quarter, up from a net loss of $202 million in the first quarter of 2018.
