JetBlue passenger revenue increased 9.3 percent year over year in the second quarter to $2.03 billion. Strong close-in bookings, as well as the timing of Easter in the second quarter this year, contributed to that growth, according to JetBlue. Traffic rose 5.7 percent year over year, and capacity increased 5.9 percent; load factor declined 0.2 percentage points to 86 percent. JetBlue's average fare jumped 8.3 percent to $184.24. The carrier reported a net income of $179 million, compared with a $121 million loss in the second quarter of 2018.
