Air France-KLM's revenue increased 4.1 percent year over
year in the fourth quarter to 6.5 billion euros. Traffic increased 3.5 percent
as capacity increased 3.2 percent, pushing load factor up 0.2 percentage points
to 86.1 percent. The carrier noted "robust demand" on premium routes
to North America, as well as strong demand on travel to Japan and South Korea.
Air France-KLM reported an operating result of 34 million euros for the
quarter, down 165 million euros from the fourth quarter of 2018, as fuel costs increased
257 million euros. For the full year, the operating result was 994 million
euros, down 561 million euros from 2017. The carrier attributed the drop
largely to higher fuel costs and strikes at Air France in the first half of the
year, a situation recently resolved when Air France pilots approved
a pay deal.
