Air Italy has entered liquidation after two years of massive losses.
The airline, rebranded from Meridiana in 2018, lost €200 million last year, according to Italian media, and investors Qatar Airways and the Aga Khan agreed to the liquidation. In a statement, Qatar Airways, which had a 49 percent stake in Air Italy, said it had been "ready once again to play its part in supporting the growth of the airline, but this would only have been possible with the commitment of all shareholders."
Air Italy is guaranteeing flights through Feb. 25, to be operated by other carriers. Flights after that date are being refunded.
