Air Canada's passenger revenue increased 11.3 percent year over year in the fourth quarter to 3.8 billion Canadian dollars, including a 12.5 percent increase in business cabin revenue. Traffic jumped 7.2 percent, and capacity rose 5.8 percent, pushing load factor up 1.1 percentage points to 81.3 percent. Yield increased 3.8 percent. Air Canada reported a net loss of 231 million Canadian dollars for the quarter, compared with a net income of 8 million Canadian dollars in the fourth quarter of 2017. For the full year, Air Canada's net income was 167 million Canadian dollars, compared with 2 billion Canadian dollars in 2017. 2018 results included 317 million Canadian dollars in foreign exchange losses, and 2017 results included a deferred income tax recovery of 759 million Canadian dollars.
