Chrome River customers now can stay on top of changes to tax and expense reimbursement regulations around the world by signing up for a data partnership between the expense management provider and PwC. PwC will provide Chrome River details about upcoming regulation changes, and for a monthly fee, Chrome River will email that information to clients, which then can work with Chrome River's project management team to configure their expense management systems accordingly.
Chrome River guides customers on configuration during implementation, but the partnership "will give us greater vision of any changes that are coming regarding expense reimbursement, tax or statutory issues that could affect the organization," the spokesperson said, such as reimbursements for home phones and Internet, personal and company cars and nonemployee meals.
Changes do not go into effect automatically in Chrome River's system so as to preserve clients' customizations. For example, a certain company's cap for meal reimbursements may be lower than the local regulation's cap, the spokesperson explained. Additionally, "in the same way that different organizations have different approaches to the payment of taxes on an income, they also have different approaches when it comes to the tax implications of expenses," the spokesperson said.
Last year, SAP Concur partnered with EY for real-time assessment of potential tax and immigration law liability each time the traveler booked a trip through Concur's online travel tool.
