The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is adding several data fields to its electronic screening system for travelers visiting from Visa Waiver Program countries,
the agency announced on Monday. The new questions require applicants to reveal aliases, other citizenships, their parents' names, contact and employment information, their city of birth and national identification numbers, when applicable. DHS said the new questions are "in response to increasing concerns regarding foreign fighters" and would "provide an additional layer of enduring security" for the Visa Waiver Program, which currently applies to citizens and nationals of 38 countries, largely in Europe and Asia.
