Northwest's Internet Checkin Hits Milestone
Northwest Airlines, which yesterday eliminated blackout dates for frequent flyer reward travel, today said it has checked in more than 1 million customers via its Web site.
Web checkin in general, launched in May 2000, also broke its weekly and daily records, by accommodating 22,751 customers during the week of Dec. 17, 2001, and 6,259 on Dec. 21.
"Northwest's innovative Internet checkin product has transformed every desktop, whether at home or at work, into a place where travelers can conveniently and quickly obtain a boarding pass for their flights," said Al Lenza, vice president of distribution and e-commerce. "Nearly every customer who tries nwa.com checkin just once becomes a loyal user of this time-saving service whenever they fly."
