NBTA Executive Director Resigns
The National Business Travel Association announced today that executive director Marianne McInerney has resigned, effective immediately.
NBTA president Kevin Iwamoto, global airline and car supplier manager for Hewlett-Packard, who noted her contributions to the association, said it is "committed to finding the right candidate for the job no matter how long it takes." He also said, "the organization is in fine shape, both from a management and a financial perspective."
Immediate past president Cyndi Perper explained that in the interim, NBTA officers would add oversight responsibilities for individual staff functions. She will focus on communications and legislative affairs, Iwamoto will focus on financial matters and the Institute of Business Travel Management, vice president Carol Devine will work with veteran staff member Hank Roeder on overseeing the annual convention and Mary Savoie-Stephens will take the oversight role for educational programming.
The timing for the announcement came as McInerney's two-year contract expired. After joining NBTA in 1997 as communications director, she succeeded Norman Sherlock as executive director in 2000. McInerney stated in a letter to NBTA's membership that "now is the right time to pursue opportunities that have been extended to me."
