Galileo To Apply Orbitz's Faring Engine To Highwire
Galileo International on Tuesday announced an agreement with ITA Software to use ITA's faring engine, which currently is used by Orbitz, for gathering fares, prices and schedules on Galileo's corporate self-booking tool Highwire. Galileo expects the ITA engine to return on Highwire up to five times more airfare combinations in both published and unpublished airfares.
"ITA will soon be available to all Galileo online customers, including our corporate booking tool Highwire," said Ken Esterow, chief development officer of Cendant's Travel Distribution Services Division in a press statement. "We're introducing ITA with online services first, because implementation is straightforward, and we are currently pursuing ITA's solutions and other technologies to integrate into Galileo's more complex offline platform to further broaden fare shopping capabilities for all Galileo-connected agencies."
