Galileo Gets New Business From Cendant's Other Clients
Galileo International already is benefiting from its new place under the Cendant umbrella, having convinced "some" customers of Cendant Mobility and other divisions to switch their global distribution system to Galileo, according to JPMorgan Chase analyst Amanda Tepper. Speaking to analysts about the company's fourth-quarter earnings, Cendant executives yesterday said that during the fourth quarter, they managed to stabilize Galileo's U.S. market share, which had been slipping for years.
"This was always part of their strategy, to institutionally lever relationships," said Tepper of the cross-selling activity. "Apparently they have won some contracts. For competitive reasons they didn't want to share who they were, but I would think they are mostly in the Fortune 500 range." Galileo was unable to respond to a request for the names of these clients before press time, but separately it acknowledged expanding Cendant Mobility's relocation business with Abbott Labs, Bristol-Myers Squibb, British Airways, Raytheon and Microsoft.
