<H1> Canada Briefs</H1>Delta Inks CRS Pact
<I>Toronto </I>- Delta Hotels & Resorts has joined Utell International's global distribution system portfolio, which will represent the hotel chain on Amadeus, System One, Axess and Sahara computer reservations systems.
The agreement, which went into effect earlier this year, builds on an existing pact in which Utell represents Delta Hotels worldwide on voice reservations.
Meanwhile, Delta's flagship property, the 1,600-room Delta Chelsea Inn, has introduced new rooms for business travelers who travel with their families. The rooms include a VCR and free family movies, an in-room Super Nintendo with unlimited free games, a gift for accompanying children, snacks and a kitchenette.
CP Opens Work Center
<I>Toronto </I>- Emulating business- and first-class airport lounges, the Royal York Hotel, Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts' flagship property, has opened a new work center to help provide an office away from the office for business travelers.
The center, a non-smoking facility, is open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily and offers travelers several business amenities. In addition to four self-contained private workstations with telephone, dataport, hand-free headsets and an array of office supplies, the work center has a complimentary private boardroom, available on a first-come, first-served basis; two private telephone booths for long-distance calls, a lounge area, luggage storage and complimentary refreshments.
The work center is one of several facilities that are opening in CP hotels across the country, including one at Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel and at the Hotel Vancouver.
"The work center is ideal for associates traveling together who need to meet but don't want to use a guest room," said Nancie Hall, a spokeswoman for the Royal York.
Cathay Builds Business Lounge
<I>Vancouver </I>- Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways has invested $710,000 to build a first- and business-class lounge at the new international terminal at Vancouver International Airport.
Modeled after Cathay Pacific's first-class lounge in Hong Kong, the 3,100-square-foot facility seats 70 passengers and include fax machines, several workstations with dataports and calling card telephones. The facility, which also offers lounge checkin service, opened June 1.
