As Palmer Replaces Maier As Prez, GetThere Supplies CWT Franchises
Southlake, Tex.-based Sabre Holdings Corp. today announced it named Jeff Palmer president of its GetThere subsidiary, replacing Gadi Maier, who will leave the company next week to pursue other interests. Palmer, previously chief operating officer, will report to Sabre chairman and chief executive officer William J. Hannigan. Palmer, who joined GetThere in 1999 as vice president of strategic development, this week earned recognition from Business Travel News as one of the corporate travel industry's 25 most influential executives of 2001.
Also today, GetThere announced that the Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate (franchised) Division has used its DirectMidMarket booking technology to launch 100 corporate online Web booking sites for small and midsized clients. A GetThere news statement termed the program "exclusive" and a first of its kind. CWT's use of DirectMidMarket provides "sub sites" for each client linked to a "master" site hosted by GetThere for the CWT Associate Division. Sub sites can access any GDS and can be customized to include company-specific travel policies, negotiated rates and "look and feel," including the company logo.
