Becoming the first global distribution system provider to announce its 2003 pricing, Madrid-based Amadeus this week informed airlines their per-segment fees would rise by an average of 2.9 percent starting in January.
Characterizing the increase as "mild," an Amadeus spokesperson noted that the company had not exercised a plan to raise prices for 2002 by 5.6 percent
(BTNOnline, May 7)--instead keeping that increase to 2 percent. Considering their current sensitivity to GDS costs, supplier executives do not see things that way. Though Amadeus said 2.9 percent is the average increase, one airline source told
Business Travel News that changes to certain components of the fee structure amount to a far higher jump. Amadeus said it would reveal further details in the coming weeks.
