Worldspan today began providing AirTran Airways' schedules and fares as part of a multi-year full content agreement announced yesterday. Worldspan joins Sabre and Cendant, both of which recently announced new content deals with AirTran. The carrier last November exited the Worldspan system
(BTN, Nov. 14, 2005).
The companies also said they are jointly building new tools for AirTran customers. "Together, we are committed to building efficient, cost effective and most important, customer-driven distribution tools utilizing the most current technology," said Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways' vice president of planning. "AirTran Airways and Worldspan, through this expanded relationship, are well positioned to serve our mutual and diverse customers as we continue to grow."
AirTran today also released fourth-quarter and full-year earnings. While the last quarter of the year brought the carrier a loss, AirTran finished 2005 in the black, with a net income of $2.7 million.
"Capacity grew 25 percent and traffic increased 28.9 percent resulting in a record fourth-quarter load factor of 71.5 percent," the carrier said in a statement. "AirTran also set a new record annual load factor of 73.5 percent on 28.3 percent capacity growth."
