Singapore Airlines is cutting 96 percent of planned capacity through the end of April as the carrier faces what it called "the greatest challenge [it] has faced in its existence." With those cuts, the company will ground about 138 of 147 of the aircraft used by Singapore Airlines and SilkAir. In addition, Singapore's low-cost carrier Scoot is suspending most flights and grounding all but two of its 49 aircraft. The company is working to defer aircraft deliveries, has cut pay for its management and directors and is working with its unions on further cost-cutting measures.
