Latam Airlines Group is cutting 95 percent of its operations
for April, including most international flights.
The group's only long-haul service this month is limited
frequencies between Santiago and both Miami and Los Angeles and between São
Paulo and both Miami and New York. The group's affiliates in Argentina,
Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are suspended because of government restrictions.
Within its domestic network, Latam this month will maintain
service to 39 destinations in Brazil from its hubs in São Paulo, Brasília and
Fortaleza, albeit with reduced service. In Chile, Latam has suspended flights
to Osorno, Castro and Rapa Nui but maintaining reduced service to its 13 other
destinations within the country.
Latam also has completed its
CEO succession plan as scheduled, with chief commercial officer Roberto
Alvo stepping into the role on Tuesday. Former CEO Enrique Cueto Plaza, who has
served as CEO since the LAN/TAM merger in 2012 and as CEO of LAN since 1994,
has joined the company's board.
