Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte's €25 billion relief package for the country's Covid-19 crisis included funding to preserve and renationalize Alitalia. The funding includes the creation of a company, controlled by the Italian treasury, that will run the bankrupt airline, according to Bloomberg. The government had been seeking a private buyer for the carrier, which has been propped up by several government loans, but the airline industry's dismal demand situation amid the outbreak has dimmed those chances. Italy currently is the second-hardest hit country, behind only China, by the coronavirus, with more than 31,000 cases and more than 2,500 deaths as of Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.
