Walmart became the first traditional retailer to exceed a valuation of $1 trillion in February 2026, although much of its recent growth has come from expansion of its e-commerce platforms. Indeed, in late 2025, Walmart transferred from the New York Stock Exchange to the technology-focused Nasdaq. U.S.-originating air volume reached $86.6 million in 2025, according to a BTN estimate.
The company has 2.1 million “associates,” the term it uses for employees, operating 10,900 stores plus online sites in 19 countries. Just under half of its associates are located in the U.S., where it has a 25 percent market share of grocery sales.
In its financial year to Jan. 31, 2026, global revenue grew nearly 5 percent year over year to $713.2 billion.
During 2025, Walmart sold its robotics business to Symbotic for $200 million. In August 2026, Walmart acquired the Vibe.co television advertising platform for a reported $1.4 billion.
