2025 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $47 M
Consolidated Global TMC: FCM
Shell plc spent an estimated $47 million on U.S.-booked air travel in 2025, according to a BTN estimate. That was an increase over 2024 travel spend, despite the company cutting its global workforce by more than 10,000 during 2025, from 95,000 to 85,000 employees, as part of wider cost-cutting measures.
The oil and gas giant in 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050, after revising its climate targets in 2024. Those changes included dropping a previous target to reduce emissions by 45 percent by 2035. Shell has not disclosed Scope 3.6 emissions associated with business travel.
According to its website, Shell has injected more than 33 million gallons of sustainable aviation fuel into Avelia, the book-and-claim platform it launched with American Express Global Business Travel and Accenture. Spanish energy company Moeve joined Avelia in October 2025 as the platform’s first external SAF supplier.
