The International Monetary Fund—a member organization of 191 countries that promotes financial stability and monetary cooperation—spent $70 million on U.S.-booked air travel in 2025, according to a BTN estimate.
During its 2025 fiscal year, which ended April 30, 2025, the IMF's administrative expenses for travel totaled 99 million Special Drawing Rights, down from 107 million in 2024. The SDR is an international reserve asset—not a currency—created by the IMF to supplement the reserves of its member countries. As of April 30, 2025, SDR 99 million was equivalent to approximately $138 million.
For fiscal year 2025, the IMF’s General Department reported total comprehensive income of SDR 3.3 billion, or roughly $4.4 billion, a 29 percent decrease year over year.
