For the full 2020, medical device company Boston Scientific
generated $9.9 billion in net sales, a decline of 7.7 percent compared to 2019.
It attributed the setback to the decline ad deferral of elective medical
procedures during the pandemic. The company in investor calls as late as July 2021
continued to refer to reduced travel spend as a way to reduce operating costs
and recapture margin. BTN estimates that Boston Scientific’s 2020 U.S.-booked
air volume fell to $12.5 million in 2020 from an estimated $49 million in 2019.
