The pharmaceutical company's U.S. air-booked volume was $95.2 million in 2019, an increase from $86.5 million in 2018. The company estimates its 2020 U.S.-booked air volume to crater to $20 million. About 97 percent of Pfizer's total 2019 U.S. booked air volume was with BCD Travel, 80 percent of total 2019 U.S.-booked airline tickets was made through their preferred online booking tool and 72 percent of those with no agent assistance. Approximately 33 percent of the company's U.S.-booked volume was for domestic travel. In 2019, the Pfizer Travel program launched a “Traveler Wellness Campaign and a Smart Series” to highlight tips for traveling efficiently. The Pfizer Travel digital footprint continued to grow with enhanced mobile capabilities and consolidated reporting including artificial intelligence and customized storyboard functionality. The program also put forth a Travel Greener/Sustainability promotion to educate travelers. These programs will continue to evolve in 2020 and will include ‘dashboards', customized mobile notifications and chatbots. In addition, Pfizer will implement an online booking tool in China that includes mobile and chat functionality. The company made no changes to its single global travel policy.
