The U.S. airline industry during the second quarter achieved its highest profit margin since 2000
, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Among the 21 airlines included the BTS analysis, the seven largest "network" carriers recorded an aggregate profit margin of 9.2 percent, with US Airways leading the pack at 13.9 percent.
