Southwest on March 1 plans to launch a revamped frequent flyer program

that ties point accumulation to the cost of the fare. The renewed Rapid Rewards also does away with blackout dates, seat restrictions and, as long as members register activity at least once every 24 months, expiring credits. Southwest also plans to add a new top status level for customers who log 50 one-way flights or earn 70,000 points in a calendar year.
