Southwest Airlines recorded an $11 million first-quarter profit, reversing a $91 million loss from a year ago.
Passenger revenue jumped 11 percent and the average fare increased 9 percent to $124.90. The company noted "modest improvement in demand for business travel" as trends improved for full-fare and short-haul traffic.
